Nothing in my life has ever been handed to me. I doubt many of us have had that experience. Most of us have earned the life we have, working hard to achieve it.

I have noticed an obvious trait to those that haven’t: entitlement.

It’s not always a negative thing. After all, we hope our kids feel entitled to certain things – education, nutrition, clean water. Unfortunately, as recent news shows, these things are not always a given, even here in the U.S.

So how do we change this?

By being involved. By not being complacent. By voting. Cliche? Sure. Necessary? Of course. Don’t avoid your responsibilities and then bitch about the result after the fact. Earn your right to complain! I mean it. If things don’t go your way, don’t give up! Keep working. Keep showing up. Keep voting.

And get your friends involved. The more voices, the bigger the roar. Use your experiences to recreate your environment.

Make that happy life.
